Liquid Time
Monica Ursina Jäger
The five-channel video installation Liquid Time by Monica Ursina Jäger (*1974) presents striking images of sand mining in Switzerland. The work is the result and core of five years of research and will be shown in an exhibition for the first time.
In a walk-in installation, viewers are taken on a journey through the history of the formation of sand, from a mountain massif to the bottom of a river. Real scenes and fictional places overlap and form an impressive work that can also be understood as a meditative glimpse of the depths of time.
The exhibition will take place alongside the interdisciplinary special exhibition People and Landscapes.
The project was made possible by generous support from Pro Helvetia (for the production of the work) and the Sturzenegger Foundation (for the exhibition project).
