With polyphonic improvisations, Martina-Sofie Wildberger (*1985) explores spoken words along with other performers. Statements such as “I want to say something!” are varied in rhythm, intensity, or spatial arrangement. Combinations of words and repetitions can shift their meanings. The audience is part of this sonic space and the experience of what words and voices can do. This theme is revealed in the artist’s work: her material is the sound of the spoken word, and sometimes also typography on walls and textiles. It deals with communication and understanding, resonance and the negotiation of relationships, as well as poetic expression and the embodiment of the voice in space.

Martina-Sofie Wildberger studied art history and German literature at the University of Geneva as well as art at the Haute école d’art et de design (HEAD) in Geneva.
