Reto Müller (*1984) from Stein am Rhein is the winner of the 2023 Manor Art Prize Schaffhausen. In his artistic work, the artist focuses on natural processes of transformation, such as the solidification of volcanic basalt, as well as cultural interventions such as melting, casting, cutting, overwriting, and reinterpretation. Between these poles, he creates works out of materials such as tin, basalt, glass, lead, silver, gold, and Appenzell granite which open up a space of possibilities between geology, local mythologies, and industrial history, between intention and chance, snapshot and narrative.

The award includes a cash prize of 15,000 Swiss francs as well as a solo exhibition at the Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen and a publication.
