Temporary exhibition

This exhibition deals with the dialogue between painting and photography since the turn of the millennium.

Photography has always sought to represent reality. With the rise of digital photography, photos became easier to manipulate, and thus became increasingly similar to painting, which had already turned away from its aim of objectively portraying reality after the invention of photography in 1839.

The ability of images produced by humans to create their own reality is demonstrated in the exhibition with examples of photorealistic painting, blurred paintings, art-historical references, abstract photographs, and new digital realities.

A brochure has been published to accompany the exhibition (available in German).
